you show up for work each morning, is the TEAM happy to be there and have a smile on their face because they truly enjoy what they do in serving the client base to the very best of their capabilities?
When the TEAM is not happy, it usually leads to a lack of respect throughout the shop. Do you and your staff understand the power of respect when it comes to strengthening the business culture and creating a positive and happy environment to work in?
Respect is what makes you want to spend time with others. Respect creates a bond of trust. Respect is what makes you want to listen, learn more and clear up any confusion. Respect builds a TEAM. When respect is lost, so are these things I have just listed and like in a war, everyone gets wounded.
The result of the loss of respect is anger!! Anger creates wars where people get hurt and, in the end, you end up with a business that has high employee turnover and/or long-term employees who truly are not happy with their work life environment. Add up the missing normal work days over the past 3 years.
A lot is discussed in the aftermarket about the shortage of employees and how to find and retain them. Perhaps the very first issue that should be addressed—at every level of our sector—is mutual respect throughout the business.
Consider that a successful business is a business where a unit of lives is committed to a direction because they have mutual respect and belief in each other to achieve the desired results.
